I visited Seoul, South Korea in early November 2016. I was accompanied by my wonderful partner (who acted as my caretaker and entertainer). We stayed in Gangnam for three weeks with the intent that both my partner and I would complete consultations and surgeries during this period. I planned on undergoing primary rhinoplasty and breast augmentation surgeries. My partner planned for laser eye surgery.
Prior to the trip, I had booked consultations with six clinics: PS101, April31, Migo, Cosharp, Homme and Femme, and Park Jinseok Aesthetic Clinic. The first five were for rhinoplasty and the last clinic for breast augmentation. These clinics were shortlisted based on six months of research on TPF, reading medical journals, and were highly recommended to me by past patients or surgeons. Additionally, the surgeons selected specifically had to be board-certified, part of plastic surgery forums, had a history of published academic papers in their fields, and religiously attended medical conferences. Finally, I had conversed with the surgeons/clinics through email, Kakao, or both and received prompt responses back. This played a huge part because I believe the amount of time a surgeon/clinic spends with you pre-surgery is determinate of their surgery and post-op care. Even if a clinic was highly revered, if they did not respond promptly, I crossed them off my list.
